mair.jpgAlexander is the Accountable Manager of our Part147 Technical Training Organization. He is also the Managing Director of the airberlin Düsseldorf GmbH. From July1994 to March 2009 he was with dba Airlines as Technical Director and Accountable Manger Part147. Alexander graduated from the Technical University in Innsbruck as Engineer for Electronics and Telecommunications. He also holds a CAT B2/C Part66 licence.

sauerland.jpgJörg is the Examination Manager, located in Düsseldorf. As a Certifying Technician B1 with an active licence and former Continuation Trainer he knows the training needs of our customers. Starting as mechanic for LTU 2001 he became inspector 2007.  From 2008 he worked as Practical Trainer and Assessor. In December 2009 he filled the position ‘Examination Manager’ and is now responsible for all examinations and assessments in our MTO. He is a member of the working group ‘Assessment’ in the Part147 German school circle and of the European organization EAMTC.

As a Certifying Technician B1/C he knows the part66, the duties and privileges of the Certifying Staff  Starting as mechanic for LTU 1988 he became inspector 1996. 2006 he qualified as ‘Staatlich geprüfter Techniker’ . Since 2007 he works as Continuation Trainer and Assessor. In August 2008 he took on the position as Technical Training Manager at airberlin technical training in Düsseldorf. After intensive training in Quality Management at the DGQ he passed the  EOQ Quality Management Technician (DGQ Qualitätsbeauftragter and internal Auditor).

waldow.jpgUwe qualified as a ‘Staatlich geprüfter Techniker’. In 1999 he started as A&P Mechanic for LTU in Düsseldorf, where he became in 2003 Certifying Technician B1, 2006 C.
After a term in A&S Engineering, he worked from 2006 for the training school, where he was nominated as Assessor 2007. Additionally, he worked from 2008 as Continuation Trainer for the Part145 Organization. Knowing the training needs of his homebase DUS very well, he takes on the Technical Training Manager position from Holger for Düsseldorf in summer 2010.

mohr.jpgDaniela is the Head of Technical Training with office in MUC. She graduated from university as Dipl. Pedagogue. She joined the airline business 1990 as Ground Training Manager for Pilot Training at LTU Süd in Munich. 1994 she build up the Technical Training School for LTU in Düsseldorf which was approved as Part147 MTO 2001. As Head of Technical Training at airberlin technical training she commits herself to educational subjects- as vice president of the EAMTC working group ‘Learning methods & structures’, as speaker for the LBA Part147 school circle and in the ongoing process of technical training challenges. In 2010 the focus is on ‘elearning’ where she will take part in the EAMTC and in the German School circle working group.

falcone.jpgFrank is the Technical Training Manager in Berlin. As a Certifying Technician B1/C with an active licence he knows best what is needed to train CFS for the responsible task of the Release to Service. Starting as mechanic for PAN AM 1986 he became 1993 Manager Production Planning and Control and 1998 Maintenance Manager on Duty at airberlin. In January 2004 he decided to take on the position as Technical Training Manager in Berlin. He also works as Continuation Trainer, Instructor and Assessor and is member of the LBA ‘Prüfungsrat’.

Forms and Formalities

According to the airport security rules, the access to the airport is based on a security check. Our training center in DUS or MUC are located directly at the airport, therefore if you attend a course in DUS or MUC please fill out the applicable form and mail it back to: technicaltraining@airberlin.com or to your personal contact at the training centre:

  • together with a copy of your passport &
  • in case you are not a German citizen also a certificate issued by the police of your home town (where you are registered) stating that the holder has no criminal record. This document has to be translated into German and credited by your authority (airport or police) 
  • if you are a German citizen, but do not live in Germany, you also need that statement of the police of your residence..

The training centre in Berlin is not directly located at the airfield and there is no security check needed. Just bring your identity card.
In case of practical training in Berlin you need the security check for the access to the airport TXL.

Note: there is a timeframe of at least 6 weeks to get this security check processed.


If you are a German resident and already have a security check from your airport authority, which is still valid, please mail that to us and bring the original along with your identity card  to the training centre.

For a short period as practical training, we could apply for a so called ‘Techniker access’.
Please provide us will the following documents:

  • The original certificate issued by the police of your home town (where you are registered) stating that the holder has no criminal record. This document has to be translated into German and credited by your authority (airport or police).
  • Your passport
  • Your airport badge (if you already have one)

Please also mail all documents in advance, that we can prepare the application in due time.

Trainees of non EU countries please check with the Auswärtige Amt », if you need also a special permit for Germany.

You will get an invitation which gives you all information about your course.

All customers should kindly bring their licence and in case of practical training, their theoretical certificate along.
